SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW…..

Wedding Day Traditions…They have been around as long as weddings themselves.

Here’s the meaning behind one of the most popular wedding day tradition/rhymes.www.bridalhair.com.au

“Something old,

Something New,

Something borrowed,

Something blue and

a Silver sixpence

in her shoe"

The rhyme originated in Victorian times.

“Something Old” signifies that the couples friends will stay with them.

"Something New” looks to the future for health, happiness & success.

“Something Borrowed” is to remind the bride that friends & family will be there for her when help is needed.

“Something Blue” is the symbol fidelity & faithfulness.

“A Sixpence in her shoe” is to wish the couple wealth in married life.

This may or may not bring Brides luck and/or happiness but it can be fun having all your Special “Somethings” but my suggestion for all Brides is, if You (or your Mum) plans on having ALL your Special “Somethings” then it’s best if you know what they are and have them prepared before the actual Wedding Day. Brides don’t need the added stress of having someone (normally Mum) running around the house looking for Something Blue…let alone a Sixpence for your shoe.
