I work with some absolutely brilliant photographers, and to help future brides get to know some of the best photographers in Brisbane a little better, I’ll be regularly reviewing different photographers. Here’s a little bit about “David Ferguson Photography” - David’s responses to a few questions I asked…..
David Ferguson Photography
David studied at Photography Studies College, Southbank Melbourne, and has recently become a full memeber of the AIPP. David has been shooting weddings for close to 4 years, and he shoots on average 30 weddings per year. His style is best described as photojournalistic but with a modern, fresh, intimate, relaxed edge to it!
What do you love most about your work?
The fact that everyone is at their best. Everyone is in a good mood (usually), I work at parties celebrating a couples future together. That is a pretty great work environment.
What would you be doing if you weren't in the wedding industry?
If I was not a photographer, I would probably renovating houses, that is what I did prior to being a photographer - I put myself through photography school doing up flats and houses in Melbourne.
What makes your product / service unique?
Me!
What subject do you like shooting most? (i.e. weddings/portraits/landscapes/glamour/pets)
I love my work but when I shoot for myself I like to shoot my son Max, watching him grow up through the end of my lens is amazing. I would like to shoot a bit more for myself. I often see stuff while I am driving along that I would like to stop and shoot but I am always on my way to something that prevents me from doing so.
What are some options/hints you have for bad weather?
I like to use little nooks around the city that are out of the weather, covered walkways, car parks, verandas, etc. If it looks like rain I always suggest a few black or white umbrellas in the boot of the car. Reflections are only possible when it is wet. Lastly overcast sky's are great on skin tones.
Any hints/recommendations for future brides?
Get everything sorted long before your wedding day then on the day sit back and enjoy the ride.
A Funny/strangest/silly/favourite wedding stories…
Funny things happen at weddings every weekend. Best man forgetting the rings, priest calling the groom the wrong name, father of the bride congratulating the groom but calling him the old boyfriend's name, bride putting the ring on the wrong finger only for it to get stuck on there, there are heaps. One of the closest calls was a bride getting feint just before walking down the isle, between mum and I we got her walking and she came good as soon as she saw her man.
