Photographer InReview

I work with some absolutely brilliant photographers, and these Photographer InReview are to help future brides get to know some of the best photographers in Brisbane a little better.  Here’s my latest photographers review on Josie from “Evoke Studios,”,  here her responses to a few questions I asked…

Evoke Studios

josie evoke Josie has been a wedding photographer for 7+ years, she is a member of the Professional AIPP, won a QLD AIPP Silver Award, and on average Josie shoots around 50 weddings a year. It was only natural for Josie to be in the wedding industry as she has always loved weddings, she simply loves the emotion, all the pretty things, and different interactions that every wedding day has. She also loves that she get to be creative and push herself to try at least one new thing every wedding so it's always exciting and her clients get something just as unique as them.  That’s why brides find her fun and easy to have around on such as stressful day.

What would you be doing if you weren't in the wedding industry?clip_image001
Crying.... I love what I do and couldn't see myself anywhere else. I love all my couples and am truly passionate about what I do.

Where do you seek your inspiration?
From photographers around the world, the couple themselves AND also from magazines, because I believe that every bride deserves to look like a magazine model on their wedding day.

What are some options/hints you have for bad weather?
I always carry some cute umbrellas, huddling in close is so romantic. Fun splashing and dancing also looks great for the adventurous couples. You can't control the weather so we work with it, no need to stress if you have a photographer you are confident in, then what every weather is great. evoke1

What would you do if a bride was self conscious about her...nose/bum//body etc?

I can pick a brides best assets to take the most flattering angles etc. However Photoshop is a great tool and even the smallest and prettiest bride ‘might’ need a little airbrushing.

Any hints/recommendations for future brides? evoke 2IMG_5686-Edit
Be very careful with Tan. I can't count how many orange brides I have had to photograph. Also take into consideration the skin colour of the Groom you don't want to make him look to pasty. AND Listen to the advise of your friends, family and professionals ……. then make up your own mind, it's your day there is no wrong way.

How long before the wedding do you normally arrive to the bride?
I spend 1.5 - 2 hours with the bride before hand. (2 hours if they have a tie up dress as this can take 20 minutes to do up)

Any funny/strangest/silly/favourite wedding stories to share??? evoke4
I have so many stories that it's hard to choose.... ummm ok Strangest I photographed a surprise Halloween wedding. All the guests were invited to their annual Halloween party. The bride and groom hired a Hollywood/Special effects makeup artist to do all the hair and makeup. The bride was the Death Bride and the Groom was Dracula. The groomsmen included beetle juice, hulk etc. When all the guests arrived  it was announced this was also their wedding. What fun they all had and the shock from all the guests was so funny, we even got them into the studio to do some great studio set shots.
